Facilitators News August 14, 2021
Dear Facilitators,
We hope you are finding ways to keep your cool, and having fun this August. Here are a variety of events, notes, and service opportunities we want you to know.
The DA Events Schedule is for you! Here it is. Please remember when planning a DAF event to enter it into the DA Events Schedule, whether it is for all DAF participants or just for volunteers. And do consult the schedule when calendaring events to avoid unnecessary overlap, or just to scan for interesting events to attend.
A Workshop to explore how to put our Charter into practice: “Embodying deeply adaptive ways of being together.”
Aug. 28, 1pm to 5:30 pm UTC (in three sessions.) Details and registration here: https://deepadaptation.ning.com/events/embodying-deeply-adaptive-ways-of-being-together. The DAF Charter is here.
The next DA facilitators general meeting (in a timeslot suitable for Australia and Asia) will happen in the end of August / beginning of September.
Please choose the timeslot appropriate for you in this doodle poll: https://doodle.com/poll/3hxe7qk9nezsq7b9?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link
The exact date and time of our next general meeting will be announced very soon!
Maplessness and Post-Crisis Hope with Katie, Igor and Nonty
Sept. 6, 13:00-15:00 UTC. Conversation on pathfinding in the times of unfolding for facilitators and volunteers of the DAF community.
Does Deep Adaptation have a direction or is it a space of pure unknowing? Is it a space of relinquishment of all hopes? What do "maplessness", "radical hope" and "post-crisis hope" mean? Is Deep Adaptation a refuge or a space for transformation and action? Or both? How do DA space and facilitated sessions help people to navigate in the new reality we face? Is grief the end or the beginning of the way? What are the phases of that way and how can we help people in the different stages of grieving, acceptance, transformation or action?
These are the questions to dive in together with current DA Facilitation Coordinator Igor Polsky, ex-Senior Facilitator Katie Carr and the host of this conversation Nontokozo (Nonty) Charity. Hope to see you there! Feel free to ask any questions.

Save the Date: Grief Circle - A Facilitators Community of Practice.
Tues. Sept. 30, 17:00-19:00 UTC (6-8 pm BST). Terry LePage will be piloting a Grief Circle.
We have much to grieve, and a culture that has forgotten how to grieve. Using poetry, ritual, and more, we will witness and honor each others’ griefs and make space for grief to flow through us.
Cohost Needed for “Playlist for Deep Adaptation” - Please support new facilitator Danny Joseph. He would like to offer this group in mid to late September. You can contact him at danieljw.shington@gmail.com, or Terry with questions at terry@opendoorcommunication.org.
Deep Live Gathering: Montenegro and everywhere
21-27 of October 2021 (a few days before the COP26)
One of the gatherings will be in the mountains near the Adriatic sea. Others will be held in other places where people decide to come together. All the groups will be connected online, most of the processes will be offline. You are welcome to join the preparation team, to host live gathering in your region, or to come to Montenegro.
More information is here: live.deepadaptation.info
If you wish to share your feedback, to join the preparation or to host one of the gatherings, please write a message through the website contact form or get in touch with anyone from the team.
A “Welcoming and empowering new facilitators” workgroup has started
Terry, Matthew, Igor and Tom have met on the question of welcoming and empowering new facilitators and decided to create a new slack channel #facilitators-welcoming to continue work on this question. You are welcome to join.
There is a new post in the “Deep Adaptation Facilitators” FB group for the new facilitators so if they have a wish to connect and start doing something in the DAF field, they can respond to this post and one of us will reach them to welcome and talk.
If you wish to take part in meeting new facilitators in the DA field, to help and support them, please join this slack-channel or contact somebody from the workgroup. This is the link to join this particular channel: https://join.slack.com/share/zt-uc24dpk2-51p~ZoUuvW9lNl2De6kjUw
Reminder: please observe privacy of participants. (We are legally obligated to do so.) Unless you have been given permission otherwise, please use “BCC” on group emails to event participants so their emails are not shared.
